And the February search number award goes to…
Google! That's right, Nielsen Net Ratings found Google's February search numbers at the top. Once again, Google has found to be widening its lead over second opponent, Yahoo. But the two did have different findings for the direction of Yahoo's share. In third place was Microsoft who lost share.
Last month, 55.8 percent of all searches were done on Google according to Nielsen Net Ratings. Over the last year, this has been a gain of 7.3 percent!
comScore is attributing 48.1 percent of search share to Google. This is a 5.9 percent change from February 2006.
And then there's Yahoo who according to Nielsen Net Ratings saw its share at 20.7 percent, a 1.8 percent loss. comScore shows Yahoo at 28.1 percent, a 0.6 point year-to-year gain.
Nielsen Net Ratings has Microsoft clocking in at third with 9.6 percent share, which is a drop of 1.1 points. According to comScore, Microsoft saw a 10.5 percent share, which is a 2.9 point decline over February 2006.
comScore has Ask coming in fourth place at 5.0 percent share, a 1.0 point decline. But according to Nielsen Net Ratings, AOL is in fourth 5.1 percent share of searches. Nielsen Net Ratings has Ask at 2.0 percent.
