Kristen Smith is a seasoned writer with extensive marketing and client service experience. A Virginia native, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from James Madison University. Immediately after graduating from JMU, Kristen moved to Savannah, GA to begin working on her Masters of Fine Arts in Performing Arts at the Savannah College of Art and Design. During her time at SCAD, she discovered a passion for marketing and fundraising for non-profit and arts organizations. After graduation, she worked in marketing and client service at a Savannah auction house and was also a founding member and Managing Director of Savannah’s Collective Face Theatre Ensemble.
Kristen moved to Los Angeles in 2011 and began working at Russ Reid, a full-service direct response fundraising agency based in Pasadena, CA. At Russ Reid, Kristen worked as an account executive in client services, managing fundraising efforts for nine non-profit clients and working on various digital and print campaigns and publications. While life in California was exciting, Kristen and her husband missed Savannah terribly and decided to move back across the country in 2012. Kristen brought her job at Russ Reid with her and continued to work as an account executive for nearly a year, focusing on supporting the agency’s creative department with content curation for client publications.
After a brief stint as a writer, social media manager and the managing editor of Savannah-based South magazine, she was thrilled to join the Electric Lemonade team in 2014 as a copywriter. As the company has grown, so has her role. She is now Executive Editor, overseeing the work of Electric Lemonade’s staff and freelance writers.
Away from the office, Kristen enjoys traveling and watching SEC football with her husband, baby daughter and rescue dog, Sophie.
