Helping Organizations Grow Online for 20 Years

Through the power of storytelling and written, visual and video educational content, I empower organizational leaders with strategies and tools to increase their revenue and grow their client and customer base using Google and social media.

My Humble Beginnings

I feel really fortunate to have gotten my foot in the door right as the internet was taking off.

I was in my 20s and starting my career during the dot-com boom. I worked my way up the corporate ladder at several Fortune companies, including TD Water House, Derivion, and IBM/Rational Software.

Digital Marketing Takes Off

In 2001, I accepted a position leading the AT&T digital marketing department, where we helped organizations of various sizes grow their businesses online through content marketing, search engine optimization, and pay-per-click advertising via AT&T’s Yellowpages.com product line.

Our team of two grew to 40 people as we built AT&T’s digital marketing product from scratch. Gross sales increased from $10,000 to more than $30 million in just a few years.

I loved helping other companies grow their business online. Things were going really well, but as the digital marketing products grew in size, so did the prominence of long-term contracts and heavy limitations on the services we provided. This was frustrating to me because the value of the product was not what it should have been.

I told myself that if I ever started my own company, I would do everything completely differently. I would be 100% transparent, have open communication, and not require long contracts. Focusing on the customer first would take priority over revenue projections and shareholders.

How a Visit to Google Headquarters Changed My Life

In 2003, AT&T sent me to Google headquarters to meet that company’s executive team and attend advanced training classes.

When I first walked through the doors at Googleplex, I was shocked at how well the company treated it employees and its processes― and was amazed by what Google’s team had planned. They had literally mapped out the future of the internet on whiteboards. My jaw dropped. The future of Google was insanely big even back in 2003.

On the plane ride back to Atlanta, I decided that working for corporate America no longer served me. So I took a leap of faith when I got home and started Electric Lemonade from my basement.

The Basement Story

Yep, every great company starts in a garage or basement. After my Google experience, I got to work assembling a team to start Electric Lemonade out of my home.

Fast forward 15 years: Electric Lemonade is thriving, and we’re ready to help your organization grow, too. Our focus is on wellness and a meaningful quality of life for our employees while always doing what is best for our customers.

Since 2003, our leadership team and roster of talented staff of award winning editors, writers, designers, artists, analysts and web developers have helped organizations all over the country grow. We stay true to our values, establishing lasting relationships focused on open communication, transparency, and no long-term contracts.
